Nowra

I'm spending just under a week in Nowra next week and over the long weekend with some friends - this is a great opportunity. I can't wait to relax.

But I need to think of some things to do. Aimee and others, what is there to do in Nowra and surrounding areas? Any suggestions? Of course we'll go to the beach at some point. Other than that, I've never been there before, so not sure what's on offer.

Bundanon - Arthur Boyd's house

Berry - coffee, cake and browsing in shops

The Animal Park - feed some kangaroos :-)

Ben's Walk - short, but lovely bushwalk that starts up at Nowra Showgrounds

Meroogal - Gorgeous museum of Victorian life. Built for 3(?) spinster sisters it's still got all it's original furniture etc. Like walking into a time capsule.

Picnic on the riverbank at Terara (where I grew up and my mum still lives). Terara is the original settlement in the area so it's got some cute cottages to see and the riverbank is the perfect place for a picnic: watch the river, see the cows on the island, and hopefully see a pelican or two.

Check out the Berry markets on the first sunday of the month

Kangaroo Valley for more coffee, cake and browsing in shops, plus fudge

Pack swimmers and if its warm enough, head to one of the beaches nearby

Check out Hyams beach (in Jervis Bay) for very white sand. There's also a lovely cafe with beach views.

Meroogal house is cool, especially if you are into history. You'll have to look up opening hours.

Ben's walk is partly closed at the moment, so you can't do the loop walk, but you can still do part of it and double back.

Chill out and read books :)
